Welcome back, Eastfield! After a well deserved holiday break for all students, The Et Cetera, Eastfield’s Campus No. 1 college resource, is excited to be back in business, and ready to bring the highest quality of news coverage for students this spring semester.
Being the voice of Eastfield’s student body, The Et Cetera, prioritizes the perspective of students being heard, organizations being highlighted, raising awareness with global issues and the culture of Eastfield being celebrated with all its diversity. From breaking news, to campus events, the staff is ready to attend and report on meaningful content for this semester.
Since 1970, The Et Cetera, has been 100 percent run by students for students. This semester, we are expanding our distribution of news stories beyond the paper. With the foundation done, our social media team is ready to showcase events around campus. Readers can enjoy exclusive stories, a revamped newsletter (subscribe to it by going to eastfieldnews.com) and new ways of engagement through the website. Our printed edition of the newspaper is also seeing some updates with a new games section.
As student journalists, we have to be more aware of what is happening not only locally, but at the federal level and, as the voices of our students, we strive to bring that awareness to our students, and prepare them for what can happen and keep them updated on certain stories.
The spring starts up with a new team of student leaders. Returning this year to guide the team, we have our Lab Specialist, Nancy Black, and Faculty Advisor, Erica Taylor. Their help continues to shape our decisions for the paper, motivating us to deliver a high quality paper for our student body. The student leaders for this semester include Dillon Cade Lindsay as our Photo Editor, and Ray Sandoval as Co-Photo Editor. With their help, our visual storytelling will capture some of the most memorable moments happening around campus. Our presence in social media will be managed by our Social Media Editor, Ricky Trejo, and Co-Social Media Editor, Jesse Rodriguez, in which they hope to expand news stories beyond the print. Jesus Ramirez is serving as the Layout Editor, where he ensures the look of the paper, and allows everything to flow. Finally, there’s Georgina Bolanos as Managing Editor, and myself, Erick Campzano, as Editor-in-Chief, where we manage the work environment, and ensure the development of the stories for the paper goes smoothly.
The paper wouldn’t be what it is, without the talents of our writers, photographers and cartoonists, which include Asia Turner, Valeria Macias Valdivia, Uriel Moctezuma, Robert Verdiguel, Rafael Ontiveros and Hayden Hernandez.
Our newest staff to join us include Kem Wikerson, Omer Bedirxan Demir, Natalie Venzor, Juan Lopez, Gloria Lira, Shalom Ndundat, Ernesto Lua and Angelo Vazquez. All will add fresh perspectives and new ideas for the newspaper.
For any questions or interest, please email us at [email protected], or stop by the newsroom during operation hours, located at N240.

From The Et Cetera to all of Eastfield, we hope you have an incredible spring semester, and stay connected to the news happening around you.
