With Artificial Intelligence (AI) being used daily and advancing it is a concern to some as it has been said AI will take over jobs that humans are capable of doing. Graphic designers of The Et Cetera are artists that could be at risk of not being able to do what they love because of AI.
People are quick to use AI for graphics to speed up the creativity, skipping the brainstorming part of the process and going straight into producing the outcome.
Interviewing the graphic designers of The Et Cetera showed that no matter how much AI can progress or how much people use it for art, it can never have a mind, add a perfect detail or be as thoughtful as a human can be.
āGraphic design is my major, so I do hope to continue working in this field,ā Ricardo Trejo said. āFor some, AI is taking over but, for graphic designers, I donāt think so because art is something that is crafted with care. Sure, AI can do it, but everyone is going to want authentic art.ā
To Trejo, graphic design is a collaborative job that mixes his ideas and those of the person who hires him.Ā
āWhat AI canāt really do is have a story. As a graphic designer, when I make a design, I always try to have a story behind it,ā he said. āThere will always be a small reason why I added a specific color or a stroke. I donāt think AI has that ability to add a human touch to their pieces.ā
āGraphic design is more involved with what I want to do, so I do find myself pursuing something in this field,ā Jesus Ramirez said. āI just wanted to do anything art related. I donāt think AI can affect me.ā
AI is starting to be more involved with society but Ramirez is sure that he has the confidence and experience to overthrow AI when it comes to art.

āPeople just want a product instantly so they use AI, but an artist takes their time and understands what a person wants,ā he said. āI think just making a story is something AI canāt do; they canāt be as detailed as a person. I care for what people want.ā
āPeople are starting to use AI for logos, individual businesses and even companies. This affects not only artists but our environment,ā Angelo Vazquez said. āA human is best to work with because we can understand what a person really wants. Humans can follow instructions well but AI canāt, so it will be wasting your time trying to make AI fix mistakes and make what you need specific versus a human giving you their time to understand exactly what you want.ā
āI am pursuing graphic design and am creating designs without AI,ā Mckeznie Young said. āI am inspired to keep creating; this is a talent my lord gave me.ā
Though Young believes AI can affect her in some way in or outside her career she strongly believes that many people will keep fighting for artist and designer based jobs to ākeep human creativity alive.ā
āAI is a huge part of corporate jobs so it will just make graphic design boring; it will become a copy and paste of pre-made designs from this generation and on,ā she said. āAI can only do so much today, and I pray that people will still want human creativity to stay alive because, without it, āEarth without ART, is EH.āā
āHumans should start realizing that AI should only be a helpful tool for us.the way we use AI is detrimental to our development.it is being abused and people canāt think without now,ā she said. āOnce creativity dies, humanity will stop thinking for themselves and will make us think like AI; soulless and controlled.ā
The artists highlighted the fact that AI can not comprehend or craft in a way a human can when it comes to storytelling. Technology may have the ability to create but AI does not have the ability to care about the final product as much as a human designer can.
