The Universal Kids Resort is a theme park designed to inspire creativity in children through play and imagination created in a way that allows the whole family to discover and enjoy new things. The park opens in Frisco, Texas later this year right off the North Dallas Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway.
First announced in 2023, the park offers seven different themed lands, including Nickelodeonās SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illuminations Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorkās TrollsFest, DreamWorkās Shrekās Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, DreamWorksā Puss in Boots Del Mar and the Isle of Curiosity, based on Gabbyās Dollhouse.
The resort also offers a 300 room hotel with a full-service bar, outdoor pool, fitness room and a game room for families to enjoy during their stay.
After the announcement of the park, Frisco residents raised concerns over noise, safety and traffic in the area and about the proximity of the park to family homes. Many said the potential need to turn their residential areas into gated communities for safety was a huge concern they had. Others also worried about the ā20,000 vehicles per day on weekends,ā and that the park will hurt their cityās image and cause major traffic issues.Ā
Developers argued the park is meant to attract millions of people, and will boost the local economy.
As opening date approaches, many residents living near the area and in the city continue to have mixed opinions. Some say they are glad to not have to travel all the way to Florida for a theme park experience, but othersĀ do not like the idea of their city being crowded by tourists.
