While many students rush from one class to the next and head home afterward, Jaqueline Villalobos Torres stands out from the crowd. Not only has she been extremely involved with Eastfield, but  is also known for the genuine kindness and care she shows to everyone. Whether through a simple conversation or a warm smile, which makes others feel welcome, Torres has become a meaningful source of positivity on campus.

Torres is involved in three of the campus’ organizations: Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Honors Student Organization (HSO) and Ascender. She is the treasurer for HSO and the co-chair VP of Interclub Relations for PTK. On top of her involvement in student organizations, she also has a federal work-study position. 

During her college journey, Torres has been able to leave her comfort zone, build connections across Dallas College, develop strong public speaking skills and discover the importance of interpersonal communication.

Torres will transfer to the University of North Texas in Denton this upcoming Fall to pursue her Bachelor of Business Administration. With clear goals in mind, she continues to work hard for a future filled with growth and opportunity. 

When reflecting on her time at Eastfield, Torres had many memories to choose from, but she highlights the moments she experienced through her involvement in campus organizations. The Texas Regional Conference Gala, which celebrated the accomplishments of the Texas PTK region, stands out as a night filled with recognition and celebration. 

She also cherishes her trips to Miami and Chicago with TRIO SSS, as well as sharing leadership officer roles with some of her closest friends in the HSO. All of these experiences have made her not just be seen as a student, but as a dedicated and active leader. 

As she prepares to leave Dallas College, Torres hopes to remain connected by visiting her advisors in the future and continuing her volunteer work she began through PTK. 

What truly sets Torres’ apart is her mindset and values. She acknowledges that discipline is a key factor in her success so far and is guided by faith, honesty, integrity and strong principles. 

With a positive outlook, she knows that her work will pay off. With long-term goals of achieving financial freedom and building a family, Torres has proven that she’s not waiting for the opportunities to come to her, but she is actively creating them.
