Alex Cabrera the previous president of the anime club first heard about it from the original president, he shortly joined after, becoming treasurer and later president, he took it upon himself to reestablish the club creating t-shirts and a mascot ,Hachi, for the anime club and eventually hosting one of the biggest projects for the anime club, the club convention known as the Hachi expo. Alex states that that was one of the biggest projects he was proud of himself for doing.
A year later, he brought in Soleil, the previous secretary, now the current president, and they introduced the idea of the maid café. They raised over a thousand dollars from both events to go to an anime convention, becoming one of the anime club’s earliest accomplishments. Their actions from hosting these events, especially with the Hachi expo, inspired other campuses to not only form their own anime club but also start their own conventions as well.
They credit their previous president, Alex Cabrera, and club advisor Dylan Kinnard for keeping the anime club running when it was just a few members back in 2023. But when COVID hit, plus a lack of interest, they had to halt operations. Since the dedication of Alex Cabrera in 2026, the anime club has over a hundred members on Discord and twenty active members each day.
The current president, Soleil Rahmanda, expressed that when taking on the position, they wanted to do a little more for the club and voice their ideas to see the club grow. Soleil Rahmanda expresses that they have always loved anime and being inside the anime community has helped them gain more confidence in themselves, their abilities, and has taught them a lot in terms of how to run and manage a successful fundraiser with the first Hachi Maid Expo.
They expressed that “I love what I do, of course, there’s going to be a few bad apples as with any community, but it’s not going to discourage me or keep me away from it due to my love and dedication”.
Soliel states that the club is looking to do more outreach programs about the anime club itself to keep garnering interest in both anime and the student life of Eastfield, to keep our community going.
And as for future events, the anime club states that they are looking to do another fundraiser, this time around it will be a concert with local j rock band Kazha, no set date is available as of now, but they note that they want to do it before the next Hachi expo stating “we want to expand upon it by bringing in more voice actors having performances and more programing to cement it as a convention for EastfieldÂ
Soleil Rahmanda assures people that the anime club has a very warm community and does its best to keep everything civil. Overall, they want students to know that “we are welcoming to everyone, and our main goal is to encourage students to learn more about anime and Japanese culture and help them become more open and ultimately be more confident in themselves and just find a friend within the club”. Other members of the club have shared similar messagesÂ
Kaylee Kinnard, the co advisor of the anime club, expressed that “anime club is all about enjoying yourself, making friends and just having fun. Dylan Kinnard, club advisor, voiced that “anime club is for everyone to just relax from their studies and meet new people who may just become their next friends”. Alex Cabrera, vice president for the club, wants students to know that when joining the anime club, they will make friends and memories along the way because “it’s definitely a journey for the anime club”. Myles Holt, peacekeeper for the club, asks students to come by the anime club, “We’d love to see new members and to see more people who want to engage in the community.”
The anime club has become a staple of Eastfield, not just for being a place where you can relax and get away from academic stress, but because it is a club where everyone belongs, where they can be free to be themselves. That is the impact the anime club has made at Eastfield thanks to Soleil Rahmanda and the rest of their team Alex Cabrera, Dylan Kinnard, Kaylee Kinnard, Miles Holt, Anna and Emilio.
