As the 2024-2025 academic year casts its shadow across Eastfield Campus, students are now preparing for finals and their summer vacation. Let us pause to look back at the year of the Harvester Bees and celebrate some of the student’s many accomplishments.

The Et Cetera
A new chapter for The Et Cetera began when the new crew brought the breaking news, Eastfield history, life and arts and much more to campus. Not only that, but new sections — like movie reviews and the popular Point Green comic — debuted. The newspaper’s student staff were given the opportunity to travel to the National College Media Convention in New Orleans and TIPA — the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, where the newspaper won third place for Best of Show.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)
Psi Eta Chapter
The PTK chapter, Psi Eta Chapter, earned 16 prizes in the annual Texas Regional Convention, including the Five Star Chapter Plan, the Honors In Action and the College Project. In April, the group traveled to Kansas City to participate in the 2025 Catalyst, where they earned the Distinguished Advisor Team award and other honors.
Harvesters Bees Women’s
Volleyball Team
After weeks of hard work, the Harvester Bees Women’s Volleyball team made it to finals with a season record of 30-1. They conquered the November games, earning the title of District Champions and National Champions.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association traveled to the state capital, Austin, where they represented Dallas College Eastfield during the Community College Day. During their trip to Austin, they advocated for education and made the voices of Eastfield heard!
Harvester Bees
Men’s Basketball Team
The Harvester Bees Men’s Basketball Team got off to a rocky start, but they eventually found their rhythm. Most notably this season, the team saw the introduction of a new head coach, Byron Rimm, who brings years of winning experience to the Bees. As a former collegiate player himself, Rimm’s commitment to player development brings a fresh connection to the team.
Cultural Celebrations
Throughout the year, many culture celebrations were hosted on campus, like the Hispanic Heritage Month and the Black History Month celebrations. During a Hispanic Heritage Month career fair, students had the opportunity to learn about the advantages of being bilingual and how it is an asset in their field of work. A Cultural Talent show celebrated the cultures that make the United States and Eastfield Campus. Students enjoyed showing off their heritages.
Harvester Bees
Men’s Baseball Team
The Harvester Bees Men’s Baseball Team finished the year strong and demonstrated that they are serious about success. They defeated many opposing teams and the players have a bright future at Eastfield.
SGA and PTK: Leaf a Legacy
On March 21, the award winning project, Leaf a Legacy, was hosted for everyone on campus. This event was a collaboration with the Student Government Association, the Psi Eta Chapter and the Texas Tree Foundation. The project has more green spaces, which promotes physical and mental well being, as well as biodiversity. The project is named “Eco-therapy Trail,” and is located on the Eastfield campus track.
While the political climate in the United States may be full of uncertainty, Eastfield students continue to shine, making an impact and enjoying time with their friends and professors.
From The Et Cetera to all of the Eastfield community, have an incredible and safe summer vacation. See you in the fall.
