As the weather turns warmer, it’s the perfect time to take a stroll or spend some time outside. Look no further than Eastfield’s very own college trail! With a rating of 4.3 on AllTrails, an app dedicated to the best trails and parks in an area, and its recent beautification project, the Eastfield track is the place to be.
Dallas College provides many resources students can use to better themselves, both educationally and physically. The mile long trail located on campus is a free resource that is used by both students and local residents alike. With a low elevation and looped structure, the trail is ideal for a structured workout or a casual wander after classes.

Eastfield’s Student Government Association (SGA) and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society hosted a collaborative tree planting event on March 21, called “Leaf A Legacy.” The initiative was started by the Texas Tree Foundation, a group which serves as a major catalyst in starting new environmental initiatives across North Texas. SGA’s President Veronica Romero laid out the vision of what was to come at the ceremony, stating: “It’s going to be like a mini forest; we’re trying to create biodiversity and invite some of nature’s animals back here. This is a legacy we want to leave behind, creating those green spaces and bettering the environment.”
The combination of the path and the additional greenery provides a great perk for students. Taking walks in nature is linked to many health benefits, including an improved attention span, lower stress levels and an overall better mood. All three qualities are essential for students to succeed in their educational endeavors. Eastfield’s trail and its new green spaces provide a great place to decompress and exercise, and now it will for the years to come.
