The memorial service for Dr. Bill J. Priest scheduled for Wednesday at Eastfield has been canceled because of weather conditions and will be rescheduled.
Priest, the founding chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, died Dec. 31, 2014, of natural causes. He was 97.
Priest was a professional baseball player and World War II veteran. After earning his doctorate and leading community colleges in California, he was chosen the first leader of the DCCCD system. He retired in 1981.
