The Arts, Language and Literature division will host its annual week-long Literary and Fine Arts Festival April 28 through May 2.
The festival is filled with events, including a poetry slam, readings and a jazz and a choir concert. The spring drama production, “The Violet Hour” kicks off the festival with performances at 7:30 p.m. on April 24-26. There will also be an 11 a.m. showing on April 25 and a 2 p.m. performance on April 27. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID.
Rachel Wolf, executive dean of the Arts, Language and Literature division, is looking forward to the festival.
“[The festival] sort of reflects all of the things that go on in the literary and fine arts,” she said. “It’s part of an education. Every student should have an education in the humanities, the fine arts and the literary arts.”
Wolf said the event was established in spring 2010 because she felt the need for something that tied all aspects of the department together. She said that the festival has always been well attended. Refreshments will be served at most of the events.
